Suits everyone
Easy walks near Rosh Pina for families
Comfortable, fairly short routes that work with small children or older parents.
🌾10 min drive
Hula Lake (Agamon HaHula)
A restored wetland with an easy loop trail for walking or cycling, and superb migratory bird watching. Peak season is autumn and winter (October–February), so that's when it's really worth going. Paid entry, roughly ₪40–50 per adult — check current prices before you go.
For families
🌲15 min drive
Biriya Forest
A large pine forest with marked trails of every length, good for an easy walk, a bike ride or a shaded picnic. Free entry, open year-round, and lovely on summer mornings before the heat.
For families
🌷Central Rosh Pina
The Founders' Trail in Rosh Pina
A short historic town walk through the colony itself, among the old stone houses and cobbled lanes. Easy for all ages, no car needed, and it pairs nicely with breakfast or a coffee after a longer trip.
🦆20 min drive
Yamit 2000 Park and the Little Banias
A green, easy stretch along a small stream, good for children who like shallow water and open ground to run on. Best in spring or autumn, when the water runs and the heat is bearable.
Moderate
Mid-level trails around Rosh Pina
For anyone wanting a bit more challenge, open views and an hour or two of proper walking.
💧20 min drive
Nahal Amud
One of the finest trails in the Galilee: a narrow canyon, running water in winter and spring, and welcome shade in the lower sections even in summer. There are steep stretches with ladders, so proper shoes are essential.
For couples
⛰️5 min drive
Mount Canaan and Safed
A walking or cycling route from Rosh Pina up towards Mount Canaan, with a moderate climb and an open view over the valley and the Sea of Galilee later in the day. It combines well with a visit to nearby Safed at the end.
🌄25 min drive
Kerem Ben Zimra lookout
A short-to-moderate loop with one of the widest views over the Hula Valley, Mount Hermon and the Golan Heights. Late afternoon is best, when the light softens and the view is at its finest.
🚶30 min drive
Nahal Dishon
A relatively quiet stream trail, less well known than Nahal Amud, with small pools in winter and spring. For anyone who wants nature without the crowd.
For a real challenge
Harder trails for experienced walkers
Longer or steeper routes that need basic fitness and a full free day.
🏔️1 hour drive
Tanur Waterfall and Nahal Ayun
A nature reserve at Metula with a steep trail descending past dramatic waterfalls, including the highest in Israel. Check in advance whether the full route is open — sections sometimes close for safety.
🧗40 min drive
The Ga'aton route and Little Hermon
For a full day in open country, with a serious climb and a commanding view over the whole region. Not suitable for small children, and it needs proper preparation in terms of gear and water.
🥾Seasonal
The Israel National Trail, Galilee section
Anyone walking long stretches of the Israel National Trail can use Rosh Pina as a comfortable rest stop mid-route. The northern section passes not far from the colony and links several of the trails above.
By season
Which trail, and when
The Galilee changes a great deal between seasons, so it pays to match the route to when you're coming.
🌸Spring
Spring — March to May
The greenest, most flowering time of year, excellent for every route including Nahal Amud and the Kerem Ben Zimra lookout. Temperatures stay pleasant even at midday.
☀️Summer
Summer — June to September
Choose shaded routes like Biriya Forest or the lower sections of Nahal Amud, and set out early. After a hot day on the trail, our suites and their private jacuzzi are exactly what's needed.
🍂Autumn
Autumn — October to November
A wonderful season for Hula Lake as the bird migration begins, and for longer walks thanks to the milder temperatures.
❄️Winter
Winter — December to February
Nahal Amud and Tanur Waterfall are at their most beautiful, with water in full flow — but check the forecast and bring warm clothes. It's also the best time for birdwatching at the Hula.
After the walk
Resting in Rosh Pina after a day outdoors
A good day out ends in a good rest, and that's exactly what we offer.
🛁Any season
The private jacuzzi at Mango Suite
After a long route there's nothing like sinking into the spa jacuzzi in Mango Suite's private courtyard — the suite sleeps up to 4. You can also book a massage in the room with Galilee Massage, arranged in advance.
🌳Any season
Hammocks and garden at Cherry Suite
Cherry Suite is an intimate studio opening onto the garden and its hammocks — a particularly good place to end a walking day with a book and a glass of wine.
🏊Summer only
The pool on the main house level
In summer, after a hot route, you can cool off in the shared pool on the main house level (included in your stay). Message us on WhatsApp to arrange it.

Frequently asked questions
A few things people ask us before heading out into the Galilee.

Spring and autumn are the most comfortable in terms of temperature, but every season has its routes — winter for Nahal Amud and the Hula, summer for Biriya Forest in the early morning.
⏱️
How far are the main trails from Rosh Pina?
Most of the routes we recommend are between 10 and 40 minutes' drive from the colony, so it's easy to combine two in a single day.
👨👩👧
Are there trails that suit small children?
Yes — the Founders' Trail in Rosh Pina itself, Yamit 2000 Park and Hula Lake are all especially comfortable for families.
