HaAdmonim Street and the historic promenade
An old stone street lined with the colony's first houses, small galleries and cafés. There are steps and railings, so children from kindergarten age up enjoy running between the corners without much risk.
We're Omri and Julia, hosts in Rosh Pina for several years now, and people ask us constantly what there is to do here with children without driving half an hour in every direction. So we've gathered the places we take families ourselves — close, simple, and no surprises.
The historic centre of Rosh Pina is built on a slope but works well even with small children, because the walk through it is short and unhurried.
An old stone street lined with the colony's first houses, small galleries and cafés. There are steps and railings, so children from kindergarten age up enjoy running between the corners without much risk.
A small museum telling the story of the colony's founding, with reconstructed rooms that hold school-age children's attention. Check opening hours in advance — they vary by day.
After a walk along the promenade there are several small cafés and ice-cream places that take pushchairs without fuss. A good place to break the outing before heading back to the suite.
You don't need to drive to the Sea of Galilee to let children run around outdoors — there are two nearby places we recommend again and again.
An open forest with laid-out walking trails and picnic areas. Good for an hour or two, and there's plenty of shade in the summer months.
A spring and small stream with water running through most of spring — good for children who want to splash about without a formal pool. Closed shoes are worth it: the stones are slippery.
A short section of the Galilee Trail passes not far from the colony, and suits a family morning walk before the heat builds. We can tell you exactly where to start, depending on the children's ages.
Small children usually break up the day best around animals, and the Upper Galilee has a few options a short drive away.
The nearby villages have several small family farms with chickens, goats and animal feed stations. Their days and hours vary, so call before you drive out.
Around Safed and the Hula Valley there are ranches offering short supervised rides for children. Generally suitable from about age 5, depending on the ranch's own policy.
During migration season (autumn–winter) you can see thousands of cranes in the Hula Valley — the kind of thing children remember years later. Less relevant in summer, when the cranes aren't here.
When the heat climbs, not every day has to mean leaving the village — there's a way to cool off at the house, and other options nearby.
On the main house level there's a shared pool, open in the summer season only, included in your stay. A good way to end a day out before the children shower and fall straight into bed.
You can head down to the Tiberias area or the northern shore for a full day in the water. At the height of summer, arrive in the morning — the popular beaches fill up fast.
After a full day with children, we can arrange a massage in the room with Galilee Massage — including during the afternoon nap. For every idea about resting and getting out, see our area guide.
Sometimes the best day with children is one where you don't drive anywhere at all, and we had that in mind when we built the suites.
Cherry Suite is an intimate studio opening onto the garden and its hammocks, and we regularly watch families set up a base for the children right there among the trees. Sleeps up to 4.
Mango Suite has a spa jacuzzi in a private courtyard, which also suits a family wanting a calm evening before the children go to bed. Sleeps up to 4.
We greet guests with refreshments and a few sweet things, so the move from the car to the room is gentle even for children tired from the drive.
Questions that come up again and again from parents planning a stay in Rosh Pina.
Spring and autumn are especially comfortable for walking and being outdoors; in summer, our pool and the ones nearby answer the heat. Winter suits anyone wanting quiet and the crane lookout in the Hula Valley.
Most of the places we've listed are within half an hour's drive, so you can comfortably combine two or three in one day and still leave time to rest at the suite.
Mango Suite and Cherry Suite each sleep up to 4, so a mid-sized family fits comfortably in either one.
