When guests ask where to taste wine around here, we always start with the map: a few wineries sit very close to Rosh Pina, and a few are worth folding into a longer drive. This is the order we follow ourselves, with rough drive times included.
These are the first stops on any Upper Galilee wine route โ easy to reach even after a slow start to the morning.
The closest winery to Rosh Pina, right at the entrance to the Merom Galil regional council. They run guided tasting flights and also a shorter self-guided visit to the wine shop. Call ahead to confirm this season's opening hours.
If you set off early, stop a moment beside the vineyards themselves before the tasting โ the morning light on the hills around Dalton is half the experience. In summer, aim to arrive before 11:00, ahead of the heat.
On the way back from Dalton you can stop on HaEm Street in Rosh Pina for coffee or breakfast, then carry on to the wineries further out. It's also a convenient moment to check in, if you're arriving the same day.
If you want to give a whole day to wine, pair the next two โ each has a very different character.
A winery with an open view across the vineyards toward the northern border, next to Kibbutz Yiron. Their tasting terrace is especially good in late afternoon, as the light softens on the hillside.
A boutique winery set higher up, near Ma'alot-Tarshiha, specialising in full-bodied reds. Book a tasting ahead on weekends โ it fills quickly.
Start at Dalton in the morning, move on to Galil Mountain around midday with a light lunch, and finish at Adir towards evening โ that way you're back in Rosh Pina while there's still light.
A few things worth knowing before you set off, so the day runs without stress.
There's little public transport between Galilee wineries, and the hops between them usually run 15โ30 minutes. If you're drinking, arrange a driver in advance or book a local taxi for the day.
Drink water between wineries, and don't arrive on an empty stomach. Most wineries also sell charcuterie, cheese or a light focaccia to go with the tasting.
